Title or Location: A Place to Breathe
I wanted to create a place of tranquility and quiet. A retreat into nature where you can take a moment to breathe. There is a hush over the valley. The storm is over and the water quietly continues on its way much as it has always done. It is here I invite you to stay for a moment or two and rest.

Title or Location: Self Portrait 2022
Every now and then, a self portrait just seems like a good challenge. This one was done with acrylic paints. My hometown is in the Blue Ridge Mountains so the background is a callback to that area. Professionally I work in the retail design industry. I earned a BFA at a Virginia based university. I?ve always enjoyed drawing and painting.Thank you Charlotte Art Group for this invitation. - Doug

Title or Location: Sasha
I did this painting of Sasha for neighbor/friends, Kim and Paul. The favor was a return for Kim's assistance in helping my wife and I properly plant several plants and trees in our yard. As for Sasha, I felt she was very regal looking and in the reference photo they provided. This was an oil on canvas (11x14).

Title or Location: Florida's Sandhill Crane
In nature, I wait patiently for just the right moment, one that is different but unique to my subject. It?s those unusual positions during grooming, mating ritual, breeding display, or just being silly. I strive to capture the moment that others miss, don?t see or notice. I?ll then use my photography as reference to create, produce and share an art piece that allows others a glimpse into that secret world of lines, colors and details that I see. This Sandhill Crane fit that bill perfectly. Title or Location: Hidden Serenity
Perhaps my favorite part about moving to Florida is the quiet time spent between me and my brushes studying the beauty of Florida. It &65532appeals to me like no other Subject. I find myself engaged with &65532 the quiet time of days, gone by. When the sun quietly sits leaving an array of color across the sky. The sounds of the swamp stir up a solace within my soul?a happy place. I hope my Florida Painting gives you a sense of peace and joy.24x36 oils ? Hidden Serenity?

Title or Location: Winter snow
As we had the arrival of snow this week I thought it would be perfect to create a nice winter scene, this one came out of my mind rather than a reference photo, so it?s of no particular place other than some music, a paintbrush and a blank canvas. I actually only learnt to paint during lockdown so it?s always really cool when I see the finished product and it looks pretty good.

Title or Location: Holiness
?Holiness? .The painting is made with acrylic paints on wood. &127912 It was created through a moment of inspiration without the use of a sketch. I just decided to trust the holy spirit. Many edges and highlights on the sides convey the state of this world in the midst of which the Light of the world appeared! A pure, immaculate creature with a divine destiny to save this world from sin. &128591&127995

Title or Location: Flora & Fauna
I am an avid visual artist, graphic designer by day & love to experiment in numerous mediums. I really enjoy the cyanotype printmaking experience. The Prussian blue & ethereal appearance of the final results fascinates me. I have been working on a hand-crafted series of cyanotype prints mounted to pine panels. The focus ranges from flora & fauna, to beach inspired and abstract compositions. I use found items to create my compositions. I will pick plants from my yard in the Lowry Park North area
