Title or Location: Come, Everyone Who Thirsts
I started this piece sitting in the hospital waiting room, waiting on a friend. I was contemplating those in unfortunate circumstances and in need of hope, and I was reminded of this passage in Isaiah 55:1-3 in the Bible. I often combine my love for watercolor and lettering with my contemplations of what I read, painting in my Interleaved journal Bible.

I drew this in white and gray color pencil on black card stock. The reference was a photograph on Penterest (no photographer listed). I love doing what I refer to as shadow drawings for several reasons. One being that I can express myself artistically without tiring my arthritic hands. ( I?m 82) and another being it induces the viewer to use thir imagination!

I?ve always sketched, mostly animals and attempts at portraits of people, which have always been hit or miss. I?ve recently taken up woodburning and some of the animals and other things I?ve done with that medium are among my favorites. Currently, I?m working on incorporating epoxy to some of the burns and after some learning curves, figuring it out.

Title or Location: A Place to Breathe
I wanted to create a place of tranquility and quiet. A retreat into nature where you can take a moment to breathe. There is a hush over the valley. The storm is over and the water quietly continues on its way much as it has always done. It is here I invite you to stay for a moment or two and rest.

Title or Location: "Snickers"
My best friend has 2 daughters "on the spectrum". The older daughter absolutely loves this horse. So, for a special Christmas present, my friend sent me some photos of Snickers, the horse, so that I could create an acrylic painting for her. Snickers is currently part of an occupational therapy program in North Carolina for children with disabilities. This is my creation.

Love this new style of painting I?m doing where I?m only painting what?s in the light. It goes back to the Dutch Masters who highlighted light in their paintings and allowed for huge areas of shadow.
